An Introduction to the Department of Educational Sciences & Pedagogy

The department of Educational Sciences of Qom university was launched in 1994, and after the promotion of the Superior School   of Law (former title of Qom University),due to the importance of educational lessons , it was felt that it was  necessary to expand the department of educational sciences, and this necessity began with the admissions  of the  educational sciences first  course in 2002.

In 2005, it was expanded by accepting 60 students (30 women and 30 men) in the bachelor`s level of educational sciences with a focus on management and educational planning. The purpose of the bachelor of educational sciences level in educational management and planning is to train committed and expert managers and experts in educational and curriculum planning for employment in organizations and ministries, especially the ministry of education in the field of education and research.

The length of the bachelor's level in this field is at least 7 and at most 12 academic semesters and usually the educational program is offered during 7 semesters of planning and courses. The total course credits of the bachelor`s level are 140 credits, including 23 credits of general courses, 45 credits of specialized courses, 62 credits of main courses and 10 credits of optional courses.

So far, 830 students have graduated from Qom University with a bachelor's degree in management and educational planning, and more than 470 of them have continued their studies at higher levels in famous Iranian universities. Since the first semester of the academic year 2013-2014, the department has accepted students in two major courses at the master's level: 1- History and philosophy of education and 2- Educational psychology. 270 students (125 men and 145 women) are studying for bachelor's degrees in the academic year 2020-2021. There are 42 students (22 men and 20 women) in the master's degree in the field of history and philosophy of education and 64 students (25 men and 39 women) in the field of educational psychology.
