University Of Qom

The city of Qom is the religious capital and cultural hub in Iran, where the holy shrine of Hazrat Masoumeh (A.S) (the sister of 8^th Shia Imam) is located, and it is a pleasant and safe place of pilgrimage for all pilgrims. The great leader of the Islamic revolution calls Qom as the mother of the Islamic Republic system.

The University of Qom ,in a complex of 140 hectares for more than four decades of scientific and research activities of the university has made a valuable contribution to the scientific progress of Qom province and our dear country, Iran. Qom university has currently been ranked 24th among all the universities of Iran as a comprehensive university of the province and in terms of science, it is an indicator among the 25 scientific and academic centers and universities in the province.

This university was established in 1979 as a superior school of law, Judicial Sciences and Theology with two majors: law and judicial science and theology .The university was established by efforts of top scholars of that time such as martyr Ayatollah Dr. Beheshti(the head of Iran’s judiciary system)and martyr Dr. Bahonar(the prime minister of I.R.Iran), under the supervision of the Qom seminary community and also the efforts of the late AyatollahQazi Khorramabadi.

In 1997, with the approval of the Higher Development Council at the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, the statue of the superior school of law, Judicial Sciences and Theology was changed into the University of Qom.

The educational structure of this university now includes 6 faculties, the girls campus, the university public campus, 7 research and technology centers, 33 scientific and educational departments and 150 fields and majors of study including the face to face and in-person majors , virtual and international courses, which contain nearly 9000 Iranian students, 4000 international students studying in B.A, B.S, M.A , M.A and PhD levels.

More than 280 faculty members and academic staffs are working in Qom University who were graduated from top national and foreign universities and also Islamic seminaries, some of whom are among the national elites of Iran.

Qom University has various educational facilities such as 7 mechanical laboratories, 5 industrial laboratories and workshops, 15 physics laboratories, 9 chemistry laboratories, 7 civil engineering laboratories and architecture laboratories, 3 electrical and electronic laboratories, 15 biological laboratories, 16 computer and internet workshop collection unit, 1 library workshop unit, 12 general workshops and 4 English language laboratory units and in total this university owns 94 laboratories and workshops which play an important role in the field of research and development and scientific growth of Qom province.

In the holy city of Qom, there are research institutes and research departments affiliated with Qom University, which are considered to be scientific and research wings of the university including: the Environmental Research Institute, the Environmental Pollutants Research Department, the Green Environmental Research Institute, the Management and Islamic Law Research Institute, the Research Department of Water Resources Management, Light Structures research group, Women's Research Department and Dust Impact Reduction Work group.

The growth center and the science and technology park of Qom University include more than 86 technology units, as well as 11 knowledge-based companies. The growth center and the science and technology park of Qom University has got 2 active branches in the province which are very successful and leading in all fields of technology. More than 100 scientific associations, independent student organizations, cultural and artistic centers, and student publications are active in the university.

In the field of sports activities, Qom University has got various comforts and facilities such as 8,000 square meter football field, a track and field racecourse ,NargesandShahid Boroujerdisport halls, open sports and outdoor fields such as volleyball and football beach, tennis courts, cycling and so on. Such an indoor beautiful swimming pool has tried to provide the students with a field of vitality and fitness in addition to their academic growth.

In general Qom University includes:

More than 80,000 square meters of educational spaces and library

20,000 square meters of offices and administrative spaces

15,000 square meters of indoor sports space

25,000 square meters of open outdoor sport fields

5,000 square meters of self-service, buffet and restaurant

45,000 square meters of dormitories for girls, boys and married students

6,000 square meters of cultural spaces and prayer halls

And there are a total of 4,000 square meters of conference halls including:

Sheikh MofidHall,Shahid Beheshti amphitheater,Shahid Motahari Hall, Shahid Ahmadi Roshan Hall, Andisheh Hall and Yas Hall in the university.

Another feature of Qom University is paying special attention to the position of academic women including female students and professors and providing suitable platforms in accordance with Iranian Islamic culture for the scientific, research and managerial excellence for them. On this basis, this university has considered a special educational and administrative space for female students and professors called as Ladies Campus. The facts and statistics of the past 4 decades show that this policy was impressive, successful and highly accepted by women and female students because they have been very successful in the scientific and research fields also in management of ladies campus while studying at university.

This university is blessed with the scent of twelve martyred students and the grave of an anonymous martyr and another martyr (martyr Sattari) who was buried in the university as an anonymous martyr and after 32 years his identity was discovered by DNA test..

Now, more than four decades have passed since the establishment of Qom University, and considering the scientific capabilities and using the potential capacities of the university and Qom province, this university intends that with the perspective of the ten-year development plan of the university (In the form of two 5-year programs), to be ranked among the top ten universities in Iran and also to get to a high rank among international universities in order to make a significant contribution to the growth and development of our dear Iran and other countries.
