An Introduction to the Faculty of Basic Sciences at Qom University

The Faculty of Basic Sciences was established in 2001 at the suggestion of professors of Qom University and the approval of the Honorable President of Qom University. Currently, the dean of the Faculty of Basic Sciences is Dr. Hassan Pahlavani who is the professor of the department of Physics.

In this faculty, there are Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Statistics and Computer science departments.

The Department of Physics and Mathematics of the Faculty of Basic Sciences of Qom University was established in 1997 and 42 students were admitted to the Department of Physics in the same year.

The Department of Computer Science started its activity by accepting 30 students in 2004.

Chemistry and Biology Department of Qom University started its work in 2008 by accepting 17 students.

The Department of Statistics was also established in Qom University in 2009, and 20 students were  admitted to this department in the same year.

The total number of students in the educational levels and educational fields of the faculty is 1565 people.

Scientific Achievement

Distinguished professor, Dr. Ali Ehsani, a member of Qom University's faculty, is among the top 1% of scientists in the world and the prominent professor, Dr. Mahmoud Nasrallahzadeh, a member of the academic faculty of Qom University, is  also among the top 2% of scientists in the world.

Research productions of physics department: 304, which includes: 216 articles indexed in international prestigious journals and 88 projects and books.

Research productions of the mathematics   department: 467, which include: 322 articles indexed in prestigious international journals and 145 projects and authored books.

Research productions of the Statistics department: 134, which include: 104 articles indexed in prestigious international journals and 30 projects and authored books.

Research productions of the Chemistry department: 797, which include: 656 articles indexed in international prestigious journals and 141 projects and authored books.
