1. Environmental Research Institute, University of Qom:

Description of the main research activities of the center: Fundamental and applied research in the field of environmental pollutants.

The Institute currently operates with three research groups: Environmental Pollutants Group, Culture and Environment Research Group, and Bioinformatics and Environment Research Group. With over forty full-time, part-time, and adjunct research staff in all areas related to environmental issues, it engages in both applied and fundamental research as well as cultural promotion.

Some of the undertaken initiatives by the Institute include:

  • Formation of the Environmental Student Association for male and female students.
  • Obtaining the representation of the Iranian Patent Association in Qom Province.
  • Development of a new ultrasound device by members of the institute for the elimination of pollutants in water systems to preserve the environment.
  • Publication of 41 ISI-indexed articles by the members of the institute, with the inclusion of the institute's name in the publications.
  • Presentation of 10 research projects (completed, ongoing, or in progress).
  • Organization of the first national conference on the crisis of salt lake and dust phenomena in the central region of Iran at Qom University.
  • Conducting five specialized provincial workshops.
  • Filing one invention titled "Green Synthesis of Ag/ZnO Nanocomposite using the Extract of Acanthophyllum pilosum Leaf for Catalytic Reduction of Organic Dyes and 4-Nitrophenol from Industrial Wastewaters," which is currently under review.

 

 

  1. Islamic Architecture and Urban Planning Research Institute:

Director: Dr. Mohammad Manan Reisi

Established in: 2020

The Islamic Architecture and Urban Planning Research Institute of the University of Qom commenced its activities in 2020 in a space of approximately 70 square meters within the Faculty of Engineering.

Objectives:

  • Establishing connections with educational institutions in the seminary and organizing educational seminars for seminary students.
  • Providing quality education for architecture and urban planning students from universities and higher education centers.
  • Establishing specialized research groups (comprised of university and seminary researchers) to enhance research capacity in the field of Islamic architecture and urban planning, with a focus on interaction between the seminary and the university, fostering research motivation in faculty members, seminary students, and university students, guiding thesis projects of students in line with research priorities in Islamic architecture and urban planning, producing original and innovative content on principles, foundations, strategies, solutions, and examples of Islamic architecture and urban planning in the form of books, articles, technical notes, etc.
  • Establishing a scientific and research database in the field of Islamic architecture and urban planning.
  • Creating communication channels between executive agencies, the industrial sector, and the university to carry out necessary applied research.

 

 

  1. Institute of Medicinal Plants Research:

Director: Dr. Morteza Yousefzadi

Established in: 2021

This research institute consists of three groups: the Ethnobotany Research Group, the Biotechnology of Medicinal Plants Group, and the Environmental Stresses in Medicinal Plants Group.

The notable activities of the Institute include the establishment of the Qom Journal of Biology and Conservation and the organization of the first International Conference on Medicinal Plant Biology in collaboration with the Iranian Society of Plant Physiology and the Union of Medicinal Plants Associations at Qom University, held for a duration of 2 days in November 2022. The outcome of this conference was the publication of 450 articles in 4 volumes of conference proceedings.

 

  1. Institute of Islamic Management:

Director: Dr. Valiollah Naghipourfar

Established in: 2011

The primary mission of the Institute of Islamic Management is to design a comprehensive ethnography of Islamic management in the research field. In this regard, the book "Principles of Islamic Management and its Patterns" was published in 2015.

Among the other objectives, mention can be made of the formation of a working group to promote the field of management from an Islamic perspective and to enhance scientific collaboration and cooperation among the members.

 

  1. Central Library:

Director: Dr. Mehdi Mohammadi

Established in: 1980

The Central Library of Qom University was established in 1980 by the University's founder, Ayatollah Ghazi (may he rest in peace), and Martyr Beheshti concurrently with the establishment of the University. Until 2009, the central library was located in the main University building, and with the start of the academic year in 2009, it was relocated to a new building. The library currently occupies a separate space of over 22,000 square meters and serves the professors, students and university staff.

The main objective of the central library is to contribute to the improvement of the quality of education and research at the University by providing necessary and sufficient print and electronic information resources and creating a suitable environment for utilizing these resources in the shortest possible time and under the most favorable conditions for education and research purposes.
