An Introduction to Islamic & Shia Studies Department
The Department of Islamic Studies of Qom University was established in 1998 to present general Lessons of Islamic Teachings to all undergraduate students. These lessons are as follows:
-Theoretical Foundations of Islam (Islamic thought (1),
-Islamic thought (2),
-Human in Islam, Qur'an and Nahj al-Balagha ,
- The Methods of life,
-History of Islamic culture and civilization,
-Subjective interpretation of Quran ,
-Political and Social law of Islam, Islamic Ethics ,
-The history of Islam and the Islamic Revolution of Iran and familiarization with the values of holy defense of Iran.
These lessons are taught by experienced and expert professors, mostly with PhD degrees. The Department of Islamic Studies has 8 members of academic staffs and more than 40 visiting professors. This department has also students of M.A and PhD for the major of Islamic Teachings (for the sub majors of Theoretical Foundations of Islam for M.A and PhD levels) . Since the department of Shia Studies joined this department , the new Department known as” The Department of Islamic and Shia Studies “ has established 2 majors of Shia Studies (sub major: Shia Theology) and Shia Studeis (sub major :Shia History)

General lessons of Islamic teachings in all Majors of B.A Level at the university :
M.A Level: Sub Major of Theoretical Foundations of Islam and History of the Civilization of Islamic Nations
Shia Studies: (Sub Majors of History and Theology)
PhD Level: Sub Major of Theoretical Foundation of Islam
