Studying Research Oriented PhD Course for International Students

The international research-oriented PhD students of Qom University are informed that the following items are important and mandatory during their PhD studies, and it is necessary to make proper planning to complete them on time:

1- The student must prepare his/her   thesis proposal in cooperation with the supervisor professor/professors   and submit it to the related department, and the topic of the thesis must be approved by the department and the faculty, by the end of the second semester of PhD  course  at the latest.

2- If the student meets the following conditions, he can submit a request to defend his/her dissertation in the Golestan portal system of the university.

a) Presenting a certificate of passing successfully one of the English or Farsi Language tests, which is valid from the view point of Qom University as below:

Being   accepted  in SAMFA Test of Farsi Language  held  by  the Student Affairs Organization of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

B) Publication of at least 2 articles extracted from the thesis in journals with international and domestic valid index (ISC-JCR-SCOPUS-Master Journal List).

• One of the articles can be published in a reliable domestic journal other than  ISC  or in Iraq or other Arab countries.

Note: The journal must be approved by the relevant faculty at Qom university.

• Submission of one of the articles can be accepted   by issuing a letter of definitive acceptance of the article.

• The name of Qom University should be written as (University of Qom) as the institution to which the student belongs. Also, the supervisor's name must be written on the article extracted from the thesis.

C) The student should hand over or send his/her  thesis, which he/she  has compiled in one of Persian, Arabic or English languages, to the supervisor professor and the supervisor professor/ professors , the relevant  department and the faculty must approve the preparation of the thesis for defense.

Note: If the student submits his/her   dissertation in Arabic or English, he/she must also prepare a 50-page summary in Persian and submit it for the graduation process.

D) The duration of studying at the PhD level is 6 semesters.While the student is unable to defend   his or her thesis in 6 semesters, if approved by the faculty and university, he or she  must submit a request to extend his or her  studies for two semesters (without paying  any fees).

• If the student is unable to finish his or her dissertation by the end of the eighth semester, he or she can apply for an extension and for each additional semester must pay 120,000,000   Iranian  Rials after the approval of the university .
