The International Moot Court Simulation Competition at the University of Qom
For the first time in Iran, the International Moot Court Simulation Competition was held at Qom University.
According to the Public Relations Department of Qom University, for the first time in the country, with the aim of practical training and professional readiness, identification and enhancement of the international defense skills of students, researchers, and enthusiasts, the International Moot Court Simulation Competition was held at Qom University.
In this competition, out of 14 teams from various universities, 8 teams reached the final stage and competed in the final round.
The team of the Master students of International Law Department at Imam Sadiq University (Male), the team of the Master students of International Law Department at Shahid Beheshti University (Female), the team from the Master of International Law Department at Qom University (Male), the team from the Law Faculty of Farabi University of Tehran (Male), and the team from the Law Faculty of Refah University (Female) participated in this competition.
Additionally, the team from the Law Faculty of Isfahan Azad University (Male), the team from the Law Faculty of Isfahan Azad University (Female), and the team from the Law Faculty of Shahid Beheshti University (Male) were among the other participating teams in this competition.
During the competition process, the oral hearing session of each team's statements against another team was held on the same day in the Andisheh Hall of Qom University. The selection of plaintiff and respondent teams was done at the beginning of the session through a draw.
Dr. Mohammad Habibi Mojandeh (Faculty Member of Mofid University), Dr. Gholam Ali Qasemi, Dr. Mostafa Fazaeli, Dr. Ahmad Reza Tohidi, Dr. Seyyed Yaser Ziaei, Dr. Mohammad Setayeshpour, Dr. Mohammad Saleh Taskhiri, and Dr. Ali Mashhadi, all of whom are faculty members at Qom University, participated in this competition as the judicial panel.
At the end of the competition, the team from Imam Sadiq University, the team from Farabi University of Tehran, and the team from Shahid Beheshti University ranked first, second, and third, respectively.
The best draft belonged to the Master's team from Shahid Beheshti University, and the best presentation belonged to the Bachelor's team from Isfahan Azad University (Male).
The methodology, level of legal description of the case and judgment, argumentation and inference power, targeted responsiveness, time management, order and discipline, and overall evaluation of the teams were assessed.
With appreciation for the efforts of all the attending professors and participating students in this distinguished scientific event, and all the esteemed contributors who were responsible for organizing this event, we are confident that these competitions and other scientific events will contribute to the production and enrichment of international legal defense literature in the country and the training of deserving international lawyers, providing comprehensive legal defense for the rights of the dear people of Iran in international forums.
