The areas of cooperation between University of Qom and Shanghai International Studies University were discussed

Professor Chang Tong, the Dean of the School of Asian and African Studies, Professor Jiang Hebi, the Dean of the Law School, and Dr. Liu Huiyi, the Head of the Persian Language and Iranian Studies Department at SISU (Shanghai International Studies University), examined the areas of collaboration between the two universities in a meeting with the President of University of Qom.

According to the Public Relations Department of Qom University, Dr. Ahmad Hossein Sharifi, the President of Qom University, in his meeting with the delegation from SISU, emphasized the close relationship between Iran and China in political, economic, and cultural domains, stating that this alliance and connection are deep and strategic and are not influenced by international challenges.

Referring to the need for strengthening this relationship from an academic perspective, he added: According to international statistics, the rate of scientific growth in Iran has been 11 times higher than the global average. China has also experienced significant scientific growth in recent years. Therefore, this connection can enhance the capabilities of both parties.

Dr. Sharifi stated that Qom University ranks among the top 20 universities in Iran in terms of research credibility and is the country's leading university in the field of international communications, as per Times Higher Education rankings.

He expressed that joint academic meetings focusing on literature, law, mysticism, etc., could be planned periodically, as these scientific endeavors can bring the intellectual spheres of both sides closer together. The President of Qom University also welcomed the presence of faculty members from Chinese universities in Iran, hosting them to further acquaint them with Iranian culture.

During this meeting, Professor Chang Tong, the Dean of the School of Asian and African Studies at Shanghai University, introduced the University and stated that it started its operations in 1949 with Russian, English, and French languages. Currently, it offers instruction in 30 foreign languages. The University also has schools of law, management, and Chinese language education.

Referring to the need for Iranian professors in Chinese universities that teach Persian language, he invited the President of Qom University to visit these universities in China and requested the expansion of relations.

The Chinese parties also expressed their appreciation for the interaction between the two Universities, highlighting that the Law School of Qom University is among the top in the Islamic world.
