An Introduction to the Department of Islamic Economics, Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences
Can you imagine a street in which there is no bakery, grocery store, fruit shop, or barber shop? Undoubtedly, the service centers mentioned above and dozens of other service units can be seen on every street. But why while there is no organization or institution responsible for creating these centers in different streets, we have access to the above units in every street? Indeed, why did many service units have disappear over 50 years ago, such as quilting, porcelain binding, and tin smith, and in contrast such professions like building decoration and audio and video equipment stores have been created? Economics answers the above questions and what factors cause the allocation of resources in a society. In other words, economics is the science of proper allocation of resources which are limited in a country. This science is presented in higher education centers under the title of Economic Sciences or Economics. The field of economics at the undergraduate level (B.A) has six branches: Theoretical Economics, Commercial Economics, Economics of Agriculture, Monetary and Banking Economics, Economics of Industry and Transportation. The students of the last year of high school in all three fields of mathematics, experimental sciences and humanities can choose this field to study at university. Of course, Theoretical Economics is not provided for humanities field of high school students, but according to the professors of this field, the difference between different branches of economics at the undergraduate level is less than 30 credits, and because the students can choose 9 optional credits from other branches, there is no significant difference between the different branches of different fields of economics. In particular, there are many similarities between the specialized courses of each branch of Economics, for example, out of the eleven specific courses of the branch of Monetary and Banking Economics, four of them are shared with the branch of Commercial Economics.
Necessary abilities: In high school, the economics course in the form of a book is provided only for the students of the humanities field, and because the topics of this book needs memorization, many students who take part in national entrance examination of universities think that in order to succeed in the field of economics, they must have a strong memory in order to be able to remember many concepts and theories. While according to professors and university students of this field, an economics student should be strong in mathematics above all in order to be successful in this field. Also, an economics student should be interested in social issues and have necessary knowledge of sociology, political science and psychology because economics is a chain of social sciences and the social sciences branches are deeply related to each other.
