According to the news office  at the Public Relations Department of Qom University, Dr. Ahmad Hossein Sharifi, the president of Qom University  on Monday, May 5 , 2023, at the closing ceremony of the Celebration of  international graduates of Iranian universities, which was held in the Sheikh Mofid Hall of Qom University, while praising and thanking the organizers of this ceremony for doing their  best  to organize the  international students' graduation celebration said, “Qom University made every effort to hold this conference and gathering as well as possible”.

He further added, “The holy city of Qom is undoubtedly the most scientific and international city of Iran, and on the other hand, it is one of the scientific bases of the Islamic world, and it also hosts citizens of a hundred countries around the world as about 10,000 male and female students from other countries study in Qom. Also, more than 100,000 students are studying   Islamic Sciences in different fields and at different levels in this city. Therefore, the people of Qom live in complete peace with the citizens   of other countries and are good hosts for these students.

The President of Qom University pointed out that Qom is the base and center of Shia authorities and religious references (Maraji) , he continued,” In Qom, there are 57 university and academic scientific centers, along with hundreds of scientific centers and Islamic seminaries, and with hundreds of academic staff members who  are promoting and producing science in various fields, and this fact  shows that Qom is also the most scientific city in the country.

Dr. Sharifi also stated,” According to the statistics of the Ministry of Science, Qom University is also one of the most international universities in Iran and currently around 3,900  international students from 19 countries are studying in this university.

He added,” Another outstanding feature of Qom University is that about 70 of its faculty members and full time academic staffs in addition to having higher university education, are Mujtahids(top religious scholars) and experts in different field of Islamic sciences who are in a high rank of Islamic knowledge and this is a practical alliance between the university and Islamic seminaries .

In the end, the President of Qom University addressed the international students and said, I hope that this ceremony to be the beginning of communication with Qom University and also   Islamic seminaries in Qom , and can establish a good   scientific relationship with Iran through Qom University.
